Well, That’s what I get for being so slack I guess. No new posts since September, so I get punished by needing to upgrade mysql AND Wordpress?!? I guess I better get on the ball to at least make all this hard work worth my while. Well, I can’t say it was fun, but at least ‘Die Hard’ was on and made the whole process a little more tolerable.
So it’s been quite a bit since my last post… so what did I miss?
The family trip to LA (sans Victoria)
My Big Sister’s Wedding
Christmas
Birthdays galore(Mel, Dad, Brian. Me)
My Anniversary was this past Friday, but I plan to post about it tomorrow.
Crap! I might not get any sleep… ‘Die Hard 2′ just came on. Stay Tuned…

Some pretty major security updates to WordPress. Also configured the site to use php5… which I thought was already the case.(I was wrong!)
In case anyone else is out there reading this, the automatic upgrade feature within WordPress will stall if you are using < php5. The same holds true with trying to auto-upgrade some of the plugins.
I know it’s been really quiet here, but lots of stuff has been happening…. like the Summer – for instance…. and Will’s Birthday… Oh, and my older sister Mel got engaged too….
Those are just the highlights. There were other things that happened, and hopefully I will get around to posting them… or at least, posting more often. We’ll see how that goes.

… The end of the school year, that is.
As you can probably guess, It is one of the most eagerly anticipated days in our household. Victoria has been done with college for a couple of weeks now(hard to believe she’ll be a Junior), but Amy and the boys are counting down the hours.
Me? Well, I have mixed feelings about the whole thing… Don’t get me wrong – I love the fact that the everyone gets to take a break from the stress of school. I love the fact that Amy can get out of “Teacher Mode” for a few weeks. I love that Amy, Victoria, and the boys will have more time to spend together as a family… I just wish I could join them. The first week of summer vacation is always hard on me. I absolutely dread having to get up and leave my family behind as I go to work. I feel as if I don’t spend enough time with them as it is.
Ah, well… I gripe about this every year. I know, I should just get over it.

Not really an NBA fan so the Cavs and LeBron getting knocked out doesn’t mean that much to me. I know that the NBA was really banking on a LeBron <–> Kobe matchup, but those are the breaks… Anyways… if LeBron had made it to the finals I MIGHT have watched, but him missing the finals pretty much guarantees that I won’t.
The Stanley Cup Finals have been amazing. I’m a die hard Penguins fan, but anyone who is a fan of hockey has to respect how the Red Wings are controlling the puck and defending against Crosby and Malkin. The Pens are going to have to have their best game if they want to compete, because the Wings aren’t giving them much to work with.
In other sports news, CCU got knocked out of the regionals this weekend. Another run ath the College World Series cut short. It’s a shame, because Coastal Carolina has an exceptional program and seems to come so close every year.
If any of you that still read this blog follow me on twitter, or are my facebook friend, then you prolly know that I finally picked up an iPhone this past Friday. Well, on a whim today, I decided to search the app store for “wordpress,” and behold! I am currently blogging from the wordpress app for the iPhone!
Not something I’d do everyday, but pretty kewl to have in a pinch…
Been neglecting my blog duties for quite some time now…. no excuses, sorry bout that.
Guess the best way to make up for the lack of posts is to post more, right?
…right….
Woah…. we might have a significant snowfall here in this part of SC about once every five years or so. I woke up this morning to some very pretty snow flurries and a nice thin blanket of white stuff across my lawn. By the time I left for work I began to worry about driving… not because of hazardous roads, mind you, but because whenever one snowflake falls here in SC – people tend to temporarily forget how to drive.
Usually, people just get overcautious. I mean… I’ve seen situations where it just starts to snow, there is no accumulation anywhere, and drivers will slow down to 35-40MPH on the busiest of roads. This invariably makes the problem worse as it creates long lines of cars and some impatient drivers late for wherever their destination… Next thing you know, some idiot tries to pass 5 cars in a row and mis-times the whole thing. you can see where I’m going here, can’t you?
Anyways, usually whenever it snows the county basically shuts down. Schools and County Gov’t Offices close, most local businesses close, etc…. Of course, I work for a utility, so we stay open as long as we possibly can. Not complaining, mind you, but I’m just picturing in my mind’s eye, my family at home around a fire, and me at work… again…
