… The end of the school year, that is.

As you can probably guess, It is one of the most eagerly anticipated days in our household. Victoria has been done with college for a couple of weeks now(hard to believe she’ll be a Junior), but Amy and the boys are counting down the hours.

Me? Well, I have mixed feelings about the whole thing… Don’t get me wrong - I love the fact that the everyone gets to take a break from the stress of school. I love the fact that Amy can get out of “Teacher Mode” for a few weeks. I love that Amy, Victoria, and the boys will have more time to spend together as a family… I just wish I could join them. The first week of summer vacation is always hard on me. I absolutely dread having to get up and leave my family behind as I go to work. I feel as if I don’t spend enough time with them as it is.

Ah, well… I gripe about this every year. I know, I should just get over it.

Not really an NBA fan so the Cavs and LeBron getting knocked out doesn’t mean that much to me. I know that the NBA was really banking on a LeBron <–> Kobe matchup, but those are the breaks… Anyways… if LeBron had made it to the finals I MIGHT have watched, but him missing the finals pretty much guarantees that I won’t.

The Stanley Cup Finals have been amazing. I’m a die hard Penguins fan, but anyone who is a fan of hockey has to respect how the Red Wings are controlling the puck and defending against Crosby and Malkin. The Pens are going to have to have their best game if they want to compete, because the Wings aren’t giving them much to work with.

In other sports news, CCU got knocked out of the regionals this weekend. Another run ath the College World Series cut short. It’s a shame, because Coastal Carolina has an exceptional program and seems to come so close every year.

Woah…. we might have a significant snowfall here in this part of SC about once every five years or so. I woke up this morning to some very pretty snow flurries and a nice thin blanket of white stuff across my lawn. By the time I left for work I began to worry about driving… not because of hazardous roads, mind you, but because whenever one snowflake falls here in SC - people tend to temporarily forget how to drive.

Usually, people just get overcautious. I mean… I’ve seen situations where it just starts to snow, there is no accumulation anywhere, and drivers will slow down to 35-40MPH on the busiest of roads. This invariably makes the problem worse as it creates long lines of cars and some impatient drivers late for wherever their destination… Next thing you know, some idiot tries to pass 5 cars in a row and mis-times the whole thing. you can see where I’m going here, can’t you?

Anyways, usually whenever it snows the county basically shuts down. Schools and County Gov’t Offices close, most local businesses close, etc…. Of course,  I work for a utility, so we stay open as long as we possibly can. Not complaining, mind you, but I’m just picturing in my mind’s eye, my family at home around a fire, and me at work… again…

Another Coats Christmas Celebration has come and gone…. This one seemed much quicker than the ones previous. It was really great being able to see everyone together like that. I didn’t do an actual head count - I’m sure somebody there did, but I am estimating 26-27 people attended this year’s festivities… give or take a couple. That’s an awful lot of bodies in one place!

Anyhoo… I rushed to get the pix imported into picasa and up on the web. I excluded the awful blurry pix and I tried to go thru each of the ones and correct the red-eye stuff, but some of the pix still could be cropped better, and touched up a bit. But to appease the largest amount of people, I decided to just upload the rest of them, and let you guys grab whichever ones you want, and edit to your hearts’ content!
