I created a new Technology category and a Linux sub-category in order to organize some articles I intend to post for Terry and any others out there interested in Linux. Stay tuned for upcoming articles regarding different distros, must-have linux software, and maybe a how-to or 2.

Sweet!!! That is awesome. I am going to capture distrowatch.com, so that I can stay up to date. Last night I downloaded:
Install Version of Ubuntu
Knoppix
Mepis
Haven’t worked with any of them, but I got them now. I think at this point, I’m not interested in the tougher Linux system, just something for me to get used to everything
If you just want to learn your way around, I think ubuntu, xandros, or maybe mandriva(used to be Mandrake) may be your best bets. I’m not saying ignore all the others, it’s just that these are some distros famous for being “user-friendly.” Each distro may or may not have different package managers. It will be important to learn how to use and configure those, so you can get the applications you want. Stay Tuned for some upcoming articles that could help.
