Sounds like some kind of commercial for AOL, or something, doesn’t it? Well, as the title says, William got his major revision upgrade this weekend. The festivities started on Friday with the traditional family feast including a chocolate cake that he helped Victoria make, and continued throughout the weekend with trips to Wal-Mart, Chik-fil-A, and Blockbuster, and will finish it off with a Grandparent sleepover switcheroo. Last night Will spent the night with his Lolo and Lola while Brian stayed with Nanny and Papa-D. Tonight, they will be trading places.
Watching the 2 boys react to one another is quite an interesting thing. They are able to play together for small periods without irritating each other too much, but at the same token, they can’t be separated too long without missing each other terribly.
Of course, Will having his birthday this time of year also comes with a set of motivational tools.. because now he is a six-year-old AND a first grader! This is also the first month that the boys have separate bedrooms, so reinforcing the fact that William is older, and that he can be more independent has been much easier.
There are times, however, that Will just up and blows me away. For instance, he was flipping through one of my PC Game magazines about a month ago, looking at the ads and read the line, “America the Beautiful… America the Battlefield.” as easy as it was “Green Eggs and Ham.” I got a kick out of watching him read his birthday cards as well.
