Running the Gauntlet

Today marks the end of a marathon run of holidays for our family. Starting in early February, we run through a gamut of birthdays, Valentines, and anniversaries which finally concludes today with Amy’s birthday.

It is really a shame because being on the tail-end of this long run, her birthday never gets the attention that its preceding holidays do… By the time we reach the end of March, we are all ‘partied’ out. (My tongue is planted firmly in cheek as our parties are deemed sub-mild at best) Usually, she might get a couple of cards, and a hand-made gift or a book, and maybe some fast-food out or Victoria might make something for dinner.

…The sad thing is? Though I fully recognize that Amy is the true unsung hero of our family and deserves all the credit and more – This year, her birthday celebration will most likely remain the same.

Why, you ask? (and I’m so glad you did)

Next year will be Amy’s – umm… strike that – Next year, Amy will be celebrating a milestone birthday and, hopefully, will be having a celebration deserving of such a milestone. Soooo, if I do go all out this year, I would be hard pressed to do even better next year. I’m just ~~too lazy~~ not creative nor resourceful enough to pull that off.

So having said all that (and knowing that she’ll be reading this later on today), I want to wish my wonderfully lovely wife and best friend a very, very Happy Birthday. You know I’d be lost without you…..

Site Upgrade Part Deux

Well, That’s what I get for being so slack I guess. No new posts since September, so I get punished by needing to upgrade mysql AND WordPress?!? I guess I better get on the ball to at least make all this hard work worth my while. Well, I can’t say it was fun, but at least ‘Die Hard’ was on and made the whole process a little more tolerable.

So it’s been quite a bit since my last post… so what did I miss?
The family trip to LA (sans Victoria)
My Big Sister’s Wedding
Christmas
Birthdays galore(Mel, Dad, Brian. Me)
My Anniversary was this past Friday, but I plan to post about it tomorrow.

Crap! I might not get any sleep… ‘Die Hard 2′ just came on. Stay Tuned…

Will-7.0

As mentioned in the last post. Will, our youngest, has reached 7 years old. While his birthday was officially last Monday, we basically celebrated the whole weekend. Some time ago, he had asked if we could take him to the local Golden Corral for his birthday. Not exactly sure why he chose that particular restaurant, but I know he and Brian have gone a few times with their grandparents…

Soooo, Saturday, we treated him to Golden Corral and the 7PM showing of Star Wars: Clone Wars. He had been so psyched to see this movie. Since he first saw the preview for it a few months back, he has basically been counting down the days until opening day. Anyway, both boys really enjoyed themselves. I wasn’t particularly impressed with the movie, but the boys seemed to like it quite a bit.

Monday, we actually had his party… nothing fancy… just us, the grandparents, and Tita Angie. In lieu of an actual single birthday cake, Victoria made a cupcake-cake instead.

Then it was decorated with a ton of DragonBall-Z miniature action figures that Amy found on Ebay.

Everything turned out really well and fun was had by all. Will ended up scoring some great loot! Check the photos below to see what all he got.

Yeah… I’m alive. Still have a ton of stuff that I want to post:

Will’s birthday was this past Monday. I need to upload pix.
I have a couple of movie recommendations and a book too.
School starts here on Monday.
Facebook is slowly taking over my life…(not really)

Oh, and not to mention that I changed the theme of the blog… AGAIN.
Right now, I’m trying to un-clog one of the worst toilet clogs ever(ewww)! Wish me luck!

This has been one of the craziest months in quite a while, but I wanted to take time out now to wish two of my most favorite women a very happy birthday….
First of all, my Beautiful Wife, Amy’s birthday was the 23rd – and no, I didn’t forget it… This is just the first chance I’ve had to get on the blog and post it…
Secondly, today is my favorite little sister, JenP’s birthday. If you haven’t had a chance to visit her blog, I highly recommend it. It is very good reading on a subject that really doesn’t get enough press.

Post-Birthday update and Thanks

So first off, yeah, my Birthday was last Friday… whoopdedoo!!!
The big 38 – pretty depressing if you ask me. I didn’t put anything down on the blog because ~~I’m a slacker~~ …erm I didn’t want to make a big deal of something so trivial. However, I do actually want to thank all of you who emailed, called, wrote, commented, etc. to wish me a Happy Birthday. It was very much appreciated.

As far as my actual birthday activities… well, the boys had a dance at their school so Amy and I took them to that and we stayed for the duration. I don’t know about you, but what is the point of having a dance at an elementary school? I mean at that age, don’t all boys think all girls have cooties at that age and vice versa? And second, why play a slow song at a dance at an elementary school? Who really expects the kids to slow dance?

However, both boys seemed to have a great time, just running around the gym with their school-buddies. Who knew?

Anyways, afterwards, we came home and I was treated to a surprise ice-cream birthday cake! Now that was excellent! When I was a little kid, my parents used to get us all ice cream cakes for our birthdays. At some time in the past, I had told Amy this and she and Victoria conspired together to get me one this year. What a wonderful treat!

Brian-9.0 Released

We at “P” Corner are proud and pleased to announce the release of Brian-9.0 which became Generally Available Sunday, Feb 18, 2008. To honor this momentous milestone achievement, a celebration banquet was held at the main headquarters located in Loris, SC. Rumor has it that members of the Knoxville office made the trip to help celebrate the festivities. Not only were the President and VP(I won’t begin to touch which person has which title) in attendance, but the founding members were also there as well. The banquet was well received by all and included such delights as BBQ ribs, ham, corn, and pancit. Door prizes were also given away to celebrate the occasion. Strangely enough, all of the prizes were won by the same employee.

Some of the new features included in Brian-9.0:
Advanced intelligence
Ability to make more complex decisions
Increased energy
Ability to take on more responsibility(This feature has not been fully tested)

As one of the lead developers, I cannot begin to express my pride in this newest release. But we are not resting on our laurels. We are still on track for our most recent product, Will, to reach version 7.0 in August. And in September, be sure to look out for Victoria-19.0. We hope to make it our most stable release ever!
